Welcome my name is Janice Lizabeth and I am an artist and illustrator living by the ocean in beautiful Byron Bay, Australia. My home and studio are two converted shipping containers which I share with my imaginary friend Sebold the maned wolf. In the garden live possums, carpet snakes, yellow robins, bandicoots, wallabies and cicadas. Some of the things I love most are rainbows, sea eagles, eating oysters and creating magical picture books.
When I’m not drawing and illustrating I like to explore the local farmers markets to sample some of the delicious cuisine such as chocolate covered strawberries, authentic Italian pizza slices, and organic boysenberry jam doughnuts. I love walking on the beach, having bird baths in the ocean and especially enjoy impressing my sweetheart by standing on one leg while singing “You are the sunshine of my life!”
My past incarnations have included drawing fruit flies as Art Editor for Nature Cell Biology, a monthly journal published by Nature Publishing, who are a scientific publishing house based in the UK. I have experience working with a not-for-profit organisation in the US, helping homeless veterans living on the streets of Los Angeles, and have also written, illustrated and self published three children’s books on Amazon.
As a child growing up in England I consumed chocolate cake in vast quantities and digested endless hours of BBC children’s TV including the Magic Roundabout, the Clangers, Bagpuss, Candlewick Green and Mr Benn. My favourite film was and still is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 🙂 which is a 1968 British musical adventure fantasy film written by Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes.
