Hi there. I’m Janice Lizabeth.
Earth-friendly Artist, Nature Lover and Zero-Waste Enthusiast.
I’d like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which I live, the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung Nation and pay my respects to the Elders past, present and future.
My home is by the ocean in beautiful Byron Bay on the east coast of Australia, where I create magical abstract figurative paintings made with natural, sustainable, earth-friendly materials.
My art expresses emotions of the feminine experience so that eco-conscious women can reconnect with their intrinsic wisdom through acknowledgement, gratitude and a desire to know more.
I paint for private art collectors so they can style their homes with sustainable, non-toxic wall art that celebrates their eco-values.
As an artist, I’m ambidextrous, working with both my left and right hand, sometimes simultaneously.
Tingo Dreaming of an Arakwal Girl.
I love painting on both wood and canvas using natural earth pigments and non-toxic binders while practising the zero-waste philosophy in my home and art studio as best I can.
It gives me much joy to gather pigments from my garden for making some of my paint while also collecting additional materials and natural ingredients from eco-minded businesses in Australia and across the globe.
I like to support small companies that source sustainably harvested pigments.
For example, I paint with a bright ultramarine blue pigment composed of 90% earthen clay and 10% man-made, non-toxic minerals.
Historically, blues in nature were rare and usually made with precious stones like Lapis Lazuli.
Unfortunately, these stones are now unsustainably harvested in Afghanistan, so I found a beautiful, non-toxic and sustainably-made alternative from France.

In addition to my natural earth paintings, I offer framed reproductions printed on high-quality paper from original pen and watercolour drawings made using my non-dominant right hand.

My “Why” for Making Art.
I feel most at home communicating through colour, gesture and texture to convey my perception of a situation, surroundings, or experience without words – a combination of inner awareness, feeling and sensation.
I love art that I can feel connected to, which calls me to it time and time again. When a painting speaks to me, it makes me very happy, and I feel honoured to have it in my life.
Passion drives me to create. When I get inspired, it fires me up, and I have to get creating right away. I feel in the flow, energised and full of purpose. I love following my intuition and inner knowing so I can express the essence of what it is I’m exploring and wanting to communicate.
My desire and need to create have always been a fire inside of me that got me where I am today. Despite setbacks and life’s challenges, creativity has always driven me forward, whispering in my ear and urging me to follow the call.
